CLAUDIA MACÍAS
Caudia I. Macías, MS Ed, is a native Houstonian whose life journey includes teaching and leading Texas public schools and education consultant and professional developer of teachers and parents. She received a proclamation from the City of Houston’s Mayor’s office when she founded and led KIPP’s second elementary school. Claudia, a mom to two teen girls, is also known as “La Super Comadre Claudia on Radio Crystal USA”, an online radio livestream show and podcast. She connects her bilingual listening audience to guests who have a passion, gift, story, or resource to uplift and inspire. Claudia’s passion for uplifting her community has led her to serve on boards and: NHPO (National Hispanic Professional Organization), The Alley Theatre’s Zocalo Advisory Board, MPAC (Magnolia Park Arts & Community), and was a founding board member of Latinas Rising. During that latter part of her service in public schools, she created The Passion Project Speaker Series. The series connected young audiences in underserved communities, to the stories of accomplished adults, with an emphasis on overcoming challenges and setbacks along their road to success. Speakers included Ryan Chase of 104.1 FM, Houston Fire Department Chief-Sam Pena, Houston Police Department Asst. Chief-Paty Cantu, and Marty McVey-Honorary Consul General for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Claudia published her first children’s book, I Love You Even When You Cry. The next title, I Love You Even When You Roll Your Eyes, is in the works. In 2023, Claudia completed the Leadership Houston program as part of class 41 (LH class 41). The mission of Leadership Houston, a prestigious leadership development course, is “to enlighten, empower, and engage” the LH fellows. During her tenure with LH, she identified a need within the community that aligned with LH’s mission, to complete a class project. Together, the fellows of LH class 41, used their time, talent, treasure, and connections to give Yolanda Black Navarro Middle School’s food distribution room a makeover. The students and community at large now have a food distribution room that feels and looks like a mini-market. Claudia is currently the Assistant Director of Brain Builders, a program out of the The Hackett Center for Mental Health. Her love and passion for education and community continues as a facilitator, community outreach, and program trainer of Brain Builders.
